Communities Helping Communities
The purpose of this society is to provide immediate and essential relief to victims of catastrophic events, including but not limited to natural disasters. The collective was founded by Parmbir Singh Lally as a result of the 2021 British Columbia floods and State of Emergency.
Kirpa Collective is the collaborative effort of local citizens that were initially brought together to support with flood relief in Abbotsford. Within days we were able to grow a group of 100+ volunteers to aid struggling communities all over Southern BC, including Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope, Merritt, Kamloops, Lytton, Boston Bar, Nooaitch Band, Nicomen Band, Coldwater Band, Chawathil First Nation, Princeton and more.
We are a not for profit organization in BC.
Our Mission:
Kirpa Collective is constantly receiving requests from people who are have lost everything due to the floods and from people who are stranded and cannot access food, water, or other basic supplies. Funds raised are also going towards equipment needed for sandbagging, clean-up, and fuel for trucks and planes.
Kirpa Collective is composed of everyday people volunteering to make a difference. We are not a corporate organization with large overhead costs. All the funds and supplies raised are going straight to the people in need.
People impacted by the floods will not be returning home anytime soon. They have lost everything they’ve worked for. With continued weather warning, we do not know what other areas will be impacted or how much more damage there will be. The work is just beginning. Communities overcome by the floods and mudslides need us to rally behind them to get through this devastation. We are grateful for the community coming together to donate money, supplies, and time for the greater good and hope you all continue to support us with these endeavors. 🙏🏽
Our Impact So Far:
- Provide meals to the evacuees, front line response teams, and the volunteers working tirelessly day and night
- Fund supplies needed by evacuees, food banks, shelters, and sandbagging sites
- Organize supply collections to be transported all over Southern BC by road and air based on requests we are getting from people impacted by the floods
- Mobilize volunteers for efforts like sandbagging, clean-up efforts, and transportation
